Abby Sillaman, LISW-S, is a licensed independent social worker with supervision designation. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ashbury University in 2007 and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2011. She has worked extensively with the adult population in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, day treatment group therapy, and outpatient therapy. Most recently, she has worked as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor specializing in crisis management, stabilization, and solution focused counseling. Her areas of expertise include stress, depression, and suicidal ideation management, anxiety reduction, coping with grief and loss, and providing space and guidance in assessing life events, goals, and transitions. Her approach in counseling is person-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based, incorporating elements of cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies. Abby values the client being in the lead role, providing direction based on their needs. This helps with the client’s own sense of self worth, which, she believes, is at the core of mental wellness. Abby works with individuals 16 and older.
Abby is available for appointments Monday through Thursday.
In her spare time, Abby enjoys Zumba fitness, being out in nature, and spending time with her husband, friends, family, and her cats.
