It may feel scary to initiate counseling, whether this is the first time you're seeking services or not. Starting a new counseling relationship takes time and energy. For this reason, we believe in providing you the most accurate information about the process.
Prior to your first counseling appointment, you will be asked to complete first session paperwork. This will include an information page about you, insurance information paperwork (if appropriate), and an informed consent for treatment. You will then meet for 60 minutes with your counselor and discuss what brings you to therapy, as well as gather information about your background experiences, relationship history, and family history. The first session is greatly important because it's when you and your counselor get to know one another. During this time , you will work to formulate goals for the work together. If deemed more appropriate, you may referred to another service or level of care in the community. Keller Counseling and Associates aims to provide you the most appropriate care, given your individual needs.
Because Keller Counseling and Associates is a private practice, comprised of a number of clinicians with different approaches and styles, it is important to bring any questions about specific treatment approaches to your individually assigned counselor. Some of our clinicians are currently working in clinical supervision with a professional clinical counselor and supervisor on staff. In the state of Ohio, licensed professional counselors are required to meet with clinical supervisors and have work reviewed for a minimum of 2 years and a number of requirements are needed before they can obtain terminal license of licensed professional clinical counselors. Keller Counseling and Associates is invested in clinical training opportunities, and thus have a number of providers in training on staff. For information about this process and what clinical supervision entails, please direct these questions to your provider and his/her supervisor if appropriate. This information will be discussed with you in your first session appointment.
In some circumstances, clients find it difficult to attend therapy in the general office setting. For this reason, therapy can be offered via an online platform. This platform is HIPAA compliant and secure. For questions about therapy services provided in this way, please contact us. This service is generally not covered by insurance companies (verses in office visits); thus, this service is billed at an out of pocket rate.
