Clinical Trainees at Keller

A pre-licensed therapist is typically a master’s level student completing their curriculum and degree to make them qualified to provide clinical services to clients. Students first complete a practicum experience, followed up by a year long internship. In the state of Ohio, counselors and social workers in training are working toward licensure and are bound to work with a clinical supervisor for training purposes. This is to ensure that you get the best clinical care within counseling and to continue to improve the work that occurs between each provider in training and his/her clients.

Our training director and supervisor is Dr Lisa Longo, Ph.D, LPCC-S. Dr Longo oversees all training experiences occurring at Keller and is the lead supervisor for the Counseling Training Program at Keller. Abby Sillaman, LISW-S is the lead supervisor for the Social Work Training Program at Keller.

There is a rigorous process to be selected to join our practice, even as a clinical trainee. A great deal of work is put in before a trainee ever meets with their first client. For the 2023-24 academic year, Keller is pleased to have Ben Coppock as a clinical intern. Ben is completing his graduate degree in Counselor Education at Capital University.
